Care Providers & Facilities

I am an independent professional.  I am not affiliated with any specific provider or birthing facility.  I am willing to work with any obstetrician or midwife in a hospital, home, or birth center facility.

Birth Package

Your Birth Package Includes:

  • Free initial consultation.

  • Two 2 hour prenatal visits to establish a rapport and clarify your goals for birth.

  • Assistance with a birth plan. Birth plans are a must for those planning a hospital birth.

  • 24 hour on-call service 3 weeks prior to the due date until the day of your baby’s birth.

  • Unlimited time in labor to support both mother and partner

  • If requested, photography or video of the birth

  • Breastfeeding support

  • Postpartum phone support and one postnatal visit

During your labor:
Please call me when you think you are in labor or as soon as your water breaks, even if you do not yet need support. I can answer questions and make suggestions over the phone. At this point we can decide when and where to meet. Approximately one hour is needed to get to you from the time you ask me to come. I will then remain with you throughout your labor. I will use my knowledge and experience to provide you with physical comfort and emotional support. I will help your partner by offering reassurances, assistance, suggestions and information, as we will have previously discussed.

After the birth:
I will remain with you until you are comfortable and your family is ready for bonding time together, usually one to two hours after the birth of your baby. I can also help with initial breastfeeding if requested.

I am available by phone to answer questions about your birth or your baby and would like to get together with you within one to two weeks to see how you are doing, to review the birth experience with you, to admire and answer questions about your baby, and to get feedback from you about my own role.

The Investment:
The investment for the birth package is $400.  I believe that all expectant parents should have access to doula services regardless of their financial situation.  I am willing to make other financial arrangements if necessary.  A non-refundable retainer fee of $100 is due when you choose me to be your labor assistant. The remaining balance, is due by 36 weeks. If the baby is born before this time, your payment is due within ten days of the birth. If an induction or c-section is scheduled, payment is due before the scheduled date.  Some, if not all of the services provided by me may be covered under your health insurance.  Please consult your insurance policy or insurance representative for coverage information.

Postpartum Services

As postpartum doula I come in and help you with light housework, meals, older children, breastfeeding, starting dinner, etc.  Basically I assist you in keeping life as close as possible to how you knew it before the baby was born. I can help you care for your postpartum body, provide emotional support, educate and assist with infant care, and even help out with household chores.  It is a great comfort to know you can utilize this type of service if you live far from family or friends, or if you are faced with an unexpected health issue after your baby is born. Many fathers have to go to work very soon after the baby is born, so that mom is then left alone to figure out how to adjust all by herself.

If you are a mom of multiples or have a partner that is deployed overseas, please contact me for special discounts.
